Management at ACT Government

8.5
8.5 rating for Management, based on 26 reviews
How accessible are managers and do they make good mentors? You may want to address internal communication, performance feedback or praise and recognition.
In my experience at least the managers and supervisors have excelled in this department.

Very accessible, mostly good mentors. Communication is usually weekly at the very least. Performance feedback is usually measured and constructive

Managers are accessible most of the time, though sometimes are flat out busy. Yes my managers have been exemplary employees. Communication is generally good, though can be more difficult WFH. They are honest about feedback, and give me my flowers where I do well, and tell me where I can improve, and what i can do to improve

I have been blessed to have wonderful mentors across all my rotations. They were all the kindest and supportive. Easy to approach and were always available when needed. They were also the one who provided me with most constructive feedback. I am very grateful for that.

My managers are very easy to talk to and have great communication skills. They come off as human and people-oriented and not bossy or rude.

The managers are much assessable. When the supervisor is assigned for the graduate. we used to think they will be training us the jobs and responsibilities; however, they will assign other members of the team to train us so rarely get chance to get mentorship from the supervisor. The supervisor will contact the other team members for our performance and give us the feedback on how good we are doing on the particular field and what to improve in the other areas. Overall, supervisors praise us and always try to give honest feedback.

Been lucky and grateful to have had absolutely amazing managers so far.

All managers I've worked with are great! Incredibly supportive, give praise, feedback, recognition, and communicate well.

My supervisor for my first rotation was understanding and patient regarding me having skills and knowledge that was irrelevant for the role I was given. My 2nd rotation supervisor was also understanding, but did not have as much time to sit with me and give me as much guidance on the work involved. My 3rd rotation supervisor was very understanding and was able to guide me quite a fair bit in ONC.

The managers are understanding, helpful, and give a lot of support when needed. They are great mentors and are great at giving guidance with each workplace directorate.

The managers are very accessible and happy for you to set up time to chat with them either informally or formally. They will often provide feedback at certain times (for example when reviewing your personal development plan) unless you ask specifically for feedback. I have found that other colleagues that work below your manager normally take on more of a mentoring role, as they usually have greater capacity to do so.

Really female-led teams for me this year - absolutely remarkable individuals with a wealth of public and private experience. Really intelligent and good at facilitating teams, and caring for your wellbeing and want to understand / help you reach your goals.
