About the Australian Secret Intelligence Service (ASIS)

ASIS is Australia’s overseas secret intelligence collection agency. Its mission is to protect and promote Australia’s vital interests through the provision of intelligence services as directed by the Government. Its work can involve collecting intelligence relating to national security, international relations, and economic issues.

Your role

Offering a rare chance to work within the Australian Secret Intelligence Service, ACTIVATE gives graduates on-the-job experience and training in one of the most unique, dynamic, and fast-paced workplaces in Australia. Throughout the 12-month program, you'll learn how intelligence is gathered, reported, and actioned.

The ASIS Intelligence Analyst Graduate Program could be the perfect fit for someone who enjoys creative thinking, tackling complex problems, and "joining the dots". New graduates begin by completing an in-house training course to build foundational skills and analysis concepts. They also gain insights into the National Intelligence Community and its collaborative efforts towards shared goals.

Following the course, graduates are placed in operational teams directly supporting intelligence operations. These teams may focus on specific regions or themes, and graduates are expected to become knowledgeable in their assigned area while honing their analytical abilities. Each day presents new challenges and opportunities for learning. Using their knowledge, skills, and all available data, graduates make well-considered, evidence-based decisions and recommend actions with real-world impact. They complete two rotations during the program, experiencing different teams across the Service.
