Disability Support at Veolia Australia & New Zealand

Veolia is committed to providing a supportive and inclusive working environment for employees who identify as having a disability and continuing to increase recruitment and retention of people with disability. On 18 November 2019, Veolia signed the “Manifesto for the inclusion of people with disabilities in the workplace”, a charter of operational commitments already ratified by around 60 companies to:

  • Better accommodate students with disabilities (internships, work-study programs)
  • Fight against stereotypes and discrimination
  • Develop the digital accessibility of workstations
  • Support sheltered employment companies
  • Integrate social criteria relating to disability in tenders.

To achieve these commitments, we partner with disability employment service providers such as Job Support, Workskill, VIVID, and Autism QLD to refer potential talent and work together to ensure any workplace adjustments that may be required are accommodated.

Our commitments and initiatives are detailed in our Impact 2023 Strategy and include:

  • Welcoming high school students with disabilities into our workplaces to enable them to clarify their career objectives and choose their studies appropriately
  • Providing pupils and students with disabilities with access to the business world, in particular through apprenticeships and internships
  • Ensuring people with disabilities with the appropriate profile and skills are interviewed for all available positions
  • Regularly organising internal awareness-raising actions to combat stereotypes and discrimination against people with disabilities
  • Encouraging new employees to actively engage with disability issues in the workplace during induction training
  • Optimising access to business tools, especially digital tools, for people with disabilities
  • Incorporating "digital accessibility" into the design of master plans for information systems, and developing digital solutions
  • Developing supplier relationships with disability employment enterprises and companies employing people with disabilities
  • Developing ties with disability employment enterprises employing people with disabilities in order to integrate people with disabilities into our organisation
  • Including social criteria relating to disability and inclusiveness in calls for tender and in the pre-requisites for tendering, in order to engage all our partners in this inclusive approach.
