Justin [00:00:01] And what would you say are your top three tips for new grads who are looking to get into a graduate role at EY?

Charlene [00:00:06] So the first tip I always say is to do your research about the company or the organization you're applying for, the more research you do this, the better your interview will be because they can see that you put in the effort to learn more about their organization and how it aligns to where you want your career to go. The second tip, I would say, is when you're submitting your documents, make sure you read the questions properly and make sure you've submitted all the right documents. If you don't do that, it might slow down the screening process for you and might take a longer time for them to get back to you about your application. So make sure you're submitting a full and complete application. And the third is to do ...uhm ... is to talk to people that might have a connection to the organization that you're applying to. So I always recommend students if you're applying to EY, jump on LinkedIn or jump on any networking opportunities and events you have and actually talk to people that work there. Find out what it's like in a day working at EY. Find out what it's like as a graduate or someone that wants to progress a career and climb the ranks in that organization. So again, like another research kind of part to your process. Those are the three things I find really good applicants already do or are already doing.

Justin [00:01:31] Okay, great. And so like about that third point, if someone's going on LinkedIn and they're connecting with people, they're networking, they're learning more about the company. Is there a point in the interview process where they're able to bring that up that they've been doing that? Or do you mean just in the sense of like familiarizing yourself with the company, making sure that it's somewhere that you actually want to work?

Charlene [00:01:51] Yeah, I definitely think you can wade into the process. It's always a nice little icebreaker as well or something at the end of your interview where you can show them that the level of your research for EY or any other place that you're applying to has kind of extended into broadening your connections there. So even if you let your interviewers know, I've already been on your company's LinkedIn profile or I've connected with this person in this particular team, and it was really good insight to see what they're sharing on LinkedIn or even caught up with them for a coffee or over a team chat that just shows like that extra level of research and motivation that you have to join that particular team. So always it's always a positive thing to add to the interview whether at the start or the end as well.
