SITA was founded in February 1949 by 11 European airlines as a cooperative providing communications between airlines and airports. Based in Geneva, the company (at that time was known as Société Internationale de Télécommunications Aéronautiques) has evolved from providing only network services as a cooperative to providing a range of IT and communication services to its members today.
SITA has more than 550 air transport community members and 3,200 customers, supporting them globally in 220 countries and territories.
