  • Truly flexible working and consistent, positive response to COVID-19 challenges (ie clear communications, no pay cuts, back-paid pay increases, additional COVID leave).
  • Excellent training, very supportive environment and excellent people to work with.
  • The people at Allens are fantastic - they are intelligent and great teachers but also can have a laugh and a chat.

Able to move up the ranks faster than usual if you work at it and you want to. Many partners have been made up quite young after soaring through the ranks. Flexible career deal for moving up the ranks after the graduate program.

Work hours are as expected but sometimes better than expected. We are compensated well during busy times. The good culture of taking time off when you need to after a busy period. Socialising is available but not pushed. I have good relationships with people at my level and above, and there are plenty of opportunities to connect with my team (even and somewhat especially during COVID).

We have industry-leading approaches to these issues. There is still a lot to be done, but Allens works very hard to improve these issues. There are many committees within the firm, including Women @ Allens, the RAP committee and the All-in committee that work on addressing these issues through a range of events and initiatives.

Much higher levels of autonomy at a relatively junior level than expected, drafting first cuts of most documents, usually invited to join and meaningfully contribute to client calls.

Yes, my manager is a great mentor. I meet with him frequently and receive useful feedback. We have a good relationship and I feel like he supports me and my career.

Very nice, spacious office with great facilities (showers, gym, etc). Great central location with nice views. The dress code is generally corporate attire for client-facing days, but smart casual is also acceptable.

The interview process at Allens was very welcoming. I felt that the interview was more of a conversation than a lot of interviews I attended and that the interviewers really wanted to get to know me and if I would be a good fit above anything else.

Pay is above-market as I understand. Bonuses (particularly AmEx spends) are common in my team). Grads don't get bonuses otherwise. However, the firm has been generous (relative to other firms) with respect to economic support during covid.

There are innumerable opportunities for both formal and informal learning. These are focused on soft skills (for example, engaging with clients) and professional development (for example, legal courses).

Hours are somewhat flexible. Flexibility is encouraged however depends on the quantity of workaround. On the whole, I feel it’s more flexible than other workplaces.
